Survivor 41--The Great Reset
Survivor returns to TV tonight after 17 months with the next season after Winners at War. It's simply titled "Survivor 41." No location, no theme as in the first 40 seasons. Will this be better than before? We will see.
Things we know about this season so far: There will be three tribes of 6 contestants to start, the first episode will be two hours, they will have little provided for them, fewer reward challenges, which Jeff Probst is calling a "Monster". Jeff never overstates, so we are sure that it will be a monster. It will also be the shortest stay for the winner (not including "Edge of Extinction" winner Chris Underwood who played for 13 days. This season will last 26 days. What will cutting off nearly 2 weeks do to the game?
Much was made of CBS' decision to cast 50% minorities on their reality casts, but that shouldn't matter. The cast is made up of a pretty good cross-section of the country, as well as 4 players born outside of the US, 3 from Canada and 1 from Sri Lanka. The first player from Wyoming is on this season, and 11 states, DC, and Ontario are represented.
Two players were born AFTER Season 1 of Survivor first aired. Players ages range from 20-52, with an average of 34.
Student is the biggest profession with 5. There's a neurosurgeon, pastor, flight attendant, ex-NFL player, rancher and stay-at-home Mom included in the cast.
We'll break down the cast further, once the first episode airs, and we find out how the rules are changing.
