Ranking the Survivor Seasons

Now that Survivor 40: Winners at War has completed it's broadcast run, and no filming dates or location in play yet for Season 41: Pandemic Island (just kidding, no name has come out yet), it may give us time to take a long hard look at the Top 40 Survivor Seasons. 

It's all subjective of course and may reflect my feelings and biases on some of the repeat players and repeat and mixed seasons in general, but we will go at it in a different way.

Seasons with all new players will be ranked among themselves and seasons with some or all returning players will be ranked separately.   This means there are 26 Original Cast Seasons, and 13 Mixed Seasons.

Anyone who can count will tell you that that adds up to 39.  But there is one season, that can't be classified as original or all returnees or mixed.  But in the end it doesn't really matter--the season is the worst of all time and it will be the first one I list Counting backwards and is Ranked 40.

Following that I will list two seasons of originals followed by one returnee season, until we are left with 3.  I will then give you the #2 Original followed by the #1 Returnee season followed by the #1 Original which I believe is the best of all time.

Returnee seasons (full or partial) will be ranked R1-R13 and All Original Cast Seasons will be ranked O1-O26.

There will be controversy, I'm sure, but I hope to present the seasons in a way that backs my ranking.  Many are good, a few are bad, a couple are terrible, but most are entertaining.

And in true Survivor fashion, be ready for a twist--or not.

Survivor 44--Final Seven

Although I am enjoying the cast of Survivor 44, I can't say I'm enjoying the season.  In the opening episode, a blunt force head trauma at 8:20 into the episode eliminating one promising character on Tika--Bruce and a rock climbing injury at 41:30, that had a lingering effect on Matthew on Ratu led to the first immunity challenge requiring the ridiculous strength of  six people being played with five and eventually four on Ratu as Brandon who had performed the Sweat challenge with Matthew who had to sit out the challenge because of his arm. Ratu unsurprisingly lost the challenge, and Soka at full strength won, which led to the first of four straight women being voted off, prior to the merge.  Matthew and Bruce were the only men to leave before going to the combined beach.   The abundance of advantages/losses, idols and fake advantages were overdone this season, and the tribe "swap" was too fixed. Episode 4 "Dirty Deed" Preview

One postscript from last week's episode.  The end result was not  unlike the rock draw in other seasons and someone deserving to stay, like Jessica last season was lost from the game.    As painful as it was to watch Malcolm leave, it's part of the game.  If J.T. hadn't done what he did, then perhaps it would have been Sierra that left the game. Tonight, Debbie appears to go berserk and get crazy with Brad and Tai, which usually means she stays.  After the twists of the first three weeks, who knows what this week's twist will be and how it will affect the game.
