J.T. played a near flawless game in Tocantins.  Teaming up with Steven and Taj, he was able to win the season, despite being down in numbers 6-3 after the merge and a medical evacuation of their fourth tribe member. 

A series of events happened to improve his chances.  First, Tyson and Coach wanted to vote out Brendon whom Taj had set up an alliance with when they were on Exile Island together.  Despite Brendon having a Hidden Immunity Idol, he didn't play it, and was eliminated it.  

Erinn also was willing to come over permanently, while Sierra was supposed to be the next one to go. Erinn came up with the plan to blindside Tyson, which along with Sierra they were able to accomplish.  Coach and Debbie then teamed up with them to take out Sierra.   From then on the numbers were ever in their favor,  Stephen and J.T. won the final four immunities and sat together at the final Tribal Council.

In Heroes vs. Villains, J.T. outfoxed himself to his detriment.   Believing that the unknown Russell was going to be a victim of Parvati's famed "Girls Alliance", J.T. gave Russell his Hidden Immunity Idol, which in a third hand way was used to vote him out after the merge.  

In Game Changers, I doubt he will make the same mistake he made in HvsV, but also won't play as well as Tocantins.  As one of three players who haven't played since season 20 (the longest of any in Game Changers) he could be rusty on getting on his game.   

I would expect him to be a target as a winner, and he will be the only former winner on his tribe.   How he handles that and makes initial alliances will determine how he does in the early tribe.   I would also not expect him to give away any Hidden Immunity Idols that he may find.

Survivor 44--Final Seven

Although I am enjoying the cast of Survivor 44, I can't say I'm enjoying the season.  In the opening episode, a blunt force head trauma at 8:20 into the episode eliminating one promising character on Tika--Bruce and a rock climbing injury at 41:30, that had a lingering effect on Matthew on Ratu led to the first immunity challenge requiring the ridiculous strength of  six people being played with five and eventually four on Ratu as Brandon who had performed the Sweat challenge with Matthew who had to sit out the challenge because of his arm. Ratu unsurprisingly lost the challenge, and Soka at full strength won, which led to the first of four straight women being voted off, prior to the merge.  Matthew and Bruce were the only men to leave before going to the combined beach.   The abundance of advantages/losses, idols and fake advantages were overdone this season, and the tribe "swap" was too fixed. Episode 4 "Dirty Deed" Preview

One postscript from last week's episode.  The end result was not  unlike the rock draw in other seasons and someone deserving to stay, like Jessica last season was lost from the game.    As painful as it was to watch Malcolm leave, it's part of the game.  If J.T. hadn't done what he did, then perhaps it would have been Sierra that left the game. Tonight, Debbie appears to go berserk and get crazy with Brad and Tai, which usually means she stays.  After the twists of the first three weeks, who knows what this week's twist will be and how it will affect the game.
