Finale "No Good Deed Goes Unpunished" Review

Little different format for the Finale

Night 35-Night 36
1. Sarah, Cirie and Tai have it out after the Michaela vote out.
2. Brad Wins Immunity wants Aubry out. has feast reward and takes Troyzan and Sarah.
3. Tai tells Brad and Troyzan that he has two Idols.  Brad wants one of them from Tai to prove allegiance.  Tai feels bullied.
4. At Tribal, 3 votes for Sarah, 2 for Tai, 1 for Aubry, BUT...
5. Tai plays one idol for himself
6. Tai plays one idol for Aubry
7.  Sarah plays Legacy Advantage for Immunity.
8. Troyzan plays his Idol
9. Cirie has nothing to play and is eliminated.
10. Jeff fawns over Cirie and let's her say the mortal words "The Tribe has Spoken".
11. Jeff now Live fawns over Cirie some more.

Day/Night 37
1. Brad wins Immunity, wants Aubry out.
2. Aubry tries to convince Sarah and Tai, that only one of them will go to Final unless they vote out Troyzan.
3. Aubry is eliminated 4-1.

Day/Night 38
1. Brad wins immunity, wants Tai out.
2. Tai tries to get Sarah to vote for Troyzan, and go to firemaking challenge.
3. Tai gets voted out 3-1.

Night 39
1. At Final Tribal council the format is changed (because this is Game Changers dammit!
2. More of an open dialogue rather than questions and answers.
3. Zeke champions Sarah.
4. Ozzy Champions Brad
5. Debbie Sub-Champions Brad because well, she's clueless.
6. It's clear that Hali, Andrea, Tai, and possibly Cirie and Michaela have not made up their mind.
7. Brad says he won 5 Immunities
8. Sarah says she made the moves to win.
9. But did she alienate those she voted off?
10. I'm a police officer and my perceptions paid off.
11. I stabbed Sierra in the back and she still gave me her Advantage.
12. I grabbed the other Advantage from Michaela's Feet (which was news to everyone but Jeff)
13. Brad says he won 5 Immunities
14. Sarah says Brad's an athlete.
15. Vote goes 7-3.
16. Sarah Wins

Overall, a good finish to a lackluster season.  I'm surprised that both Brad and Sarah were in the final 3, but that at least made it a question on how the vote was going to go.

I liked the format of Tribal better, than just each person going up and asking questions or making a speech.  I thought it brought out more aspects of the game play, including Sarah letting everyone know how she got the advantage that Michaela missed.  In the end, only Ozzy, Debbie and Sierra voted for Brad.

I also called the freakish elimination of Cirie at the Tribal Council of 6, except I had Brad being unprotected and going.  Jeff's fawning over Cirie this season (both at the challenge she couldn't finish and her "historic" elimination.)  And in the reunion show he had the nerve to say he stays neutral.

Survivor 44--Final Seven

Although I am enjoying the cast of Survivor 44, I can't say I'm enjoying the season.  In the opening episode, a blunt force head trauma at 8:20 into the episode eliminating one promising character on Tika--Bruce and a rock climbing injury at 41:30, that had a lingering effect on Matthew on Ratu led to the first immunity challenge requiring the ridiculous strength of  six people being played with five and eventually four on Ratu as Brandon who had performed the Sweat challenge with Matthew who had to sit out the challenge because of his arm. Ratu unsurprisingly lost the challenge, and Soka at full strength won, which led to the first of four straight women being voted off, prior to the merge.  Matthew and Bruce were the only men to leave before going to the combined beach.   The abundance of advantages/losses, idols and fake advantages were overdone this season, and the tribe "swap" was too fixed. Episode 4 "Dirty Deed" Preview

One postscript from last week's episode.  The end result was not  unlike the rock draw in other seasons and someone deserving to stay, like Jessica last season was lost from the game.    As painful as it was to watch Malcolm leave, it's part of the game.  If J.T. hadn't done what he did, then perhaps it would have been Sierra that left the game. Tonight, Debbie appears to go berserk and get crazy with Brad and Tai, which usually means she stays.  After the twists of the first three weeks, who knows what this week's twist will be and how it will affect the game.
