Episode 4 "Dirty Deed" Review
NUKU Tribe
Aftermath of Tribal Council
Upon returning from tribal Sandra started questioning J.T. and what he told Culpepper. J.T. scrambled with lies but failed to get the target off his back, and the next morning searched and found the Hidden Immunity Idol, located similarly to the one that Tai found at Mana the day before.
REWARD CHALLENGE
Upon coming to the Reward Challenge, Tavua were surprised to find Mana intact and Nuku missing Malcolm. Presumably Jeff told them about the twist at some point but it was not shown.
The reward challenge had five individual parts, a grappler, a digger, 2 balancers and a puzzle solver.
Troyzan sat out (again?!) for Tavua.
Roles for Nuku, Mana, Tavua
Grappler--Varner, Sierra, Sarah
Digger--Michaela, Tai, Cirie
Bow Balancer--J.T., Hali, Ozzie
Handle Balancer--Aubry, Debbie, Andrea
Puzzler--Sandra, Brad, Zeke
Reward was for Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwiches, Cookies and Milk for the winner, PB&J Sandwiches for the 2nd Place finisher. Tavua breezed through the challenge winning it. Debbie had lots of trouble balancing the ball on the handle, which allowed Nuku to finish before Debbie got done. After the challenge Debbie blames the loss on Brad because they don't strategize and he tells people what to do, while Brad claims Debbie chose to balance in the challenge.
TAVUA Tribe
The tribe celebrates their success. Sarah in her criminal persona starts looking for options, and talks to Troyzan, and looks for an idol. He finds a clue that tells him to wet a board that will display the Tribe Logo. He postpones looking for later.
MANA TRIBE
Debbie sulks at camp, and tells the tribe to talk, make decisions and let her know what she's supposed to do. Debbie tells Sierra and Hali that she isn't getting respect from Brad. She then vents to Tai walking past Brad and ignoring him. She explodes at Tai, and blames the loss on Hali. Brad apologizes and Debbie tells him she doesn't think he does it intentionally but he comes off as a dictator.
Tai is bothered by the tension that Debbie is causing, and starts looking for another idol.
NUKU Tribe
Michaela asks for specific coffee (7 drips and a spoon of sugar), J.T. is upset by that with the sugar. Sandra then eats the rest of the sugar in front of Varner. J.T. blames Michaela. Michaela blames J.T.
IMMUNITY Challenge
Two immunities back in play.
Climb a wall, roll a cube, get keys to open box with sandbags, go across balance beam, sling the sandbags at targets, win Immunity.
Cirie sits out for Tavua. Mana discusses positions, and Debbie insists on doing the balance beam with Tai, rather than Hali. then decides not to do it.
Mana gets out to a fast start, over the wall and moving the cube. All tribes work on the key at the same time. Having to transport 100 bags over the balance beam, of course Mana struggles while Debbie points out that she's a master gymnast. Tavua gets all their bags quickly. Mana and Nuku get theirs about the same time. Sierra and Sarah connect early on the targets. Culpepper gets 3, 4 and 5 and wins immunity, Nuku and Tavua go at it with Ozzy taking out the last target before Nuku, sending Nuku to Tribal Council. Michaela reflects that a sling shot challenge got her to the tribal that booted her. Can it happen again?
NUKU Tribe
Everyone easily chooses Michaela around camp to go. Sandra plots with Michaela and Varner to go for J.T. Jeff waffles on getting rid of the attitude or the big threat.
TRIBAL Council
At tribal council Sandra discusses how they blamed J.T. after the last vote. Michaela calls out J.T. Sandra brings up the sugar incident. Sandra states that they are going to keep their strongest player in the game. J.T. and Michaela talk about work around camp. At the vote four votes are shown with Varner the deciding vote. J.T. does not play his Idol. Michaela pours herself a cup of water from her Thermos, and calmly drinks it while the votes are read. J.T. goes home. Sandra admits to finishing off the sugar, and Aubry is impressed but still on the bottom.
Sandra showed she's still in charge, and in the end took out the last remaining winner. J.T. deserved the fate and got overconfident leaving the idol at camp, which goes back to my question about how he ever won, as he cost himself in his last two plays.
Next Time On Survivor
Another tribe switch from 3 to 2 at 15 which leaves one castaway headed to Exile Island (and presumably safety, but can't help to think that a great twist would be to bring that person into Tribal to vote. Even better, don't tell the tribe that it is going to happen. Presumably (based on Sierra's Legacy Idol) this switch will last for two votes. Also a hint at a former Survivor coming back. Someone returning to the game from this season? Prior Season? Player or just a guest. Ooooooh, the suspense!
