"I voted my mother out!" is not a strategy especially when her mother was going anyway as everyone else voted her mother out.   And to be fair Ciera tried everything to save her mom before ultimately voting for her.  The edit for Ciera in Blood vs. Water showed personal growth for her in that she started making decisions for herself and direct her mother on her plans, but in the end, she was on the bottom five in her alliance, and her mother was 6th.

Three years later Ciera went for her 2nd Chance.  Early on, her tribe was winning so she was a non-factor as most of the rest of her tribe other than Monica and Keith got the focus when the focus wasn't on the Ta Keo tribe who lost a lot.  She never went to Tribal Council until Day 16.  Her first significant interview came when her name was suggested by Savage as the decoy to be told to Spencer.  This caused her to want to get back at Savage by first helping to take out his alliance partner Woo, intensifying Savage's vendetta against her.  Ciera also teamed up with Kass who unleashed her Kaos personna after having a conversation with Tasha at the merge.  At the first post-merge tribal, the alliance of 9 voted 5-4 for Kass over Ciera which spared her, but she was a target from then on, finally going out when Fishbach played his idol and putting her on the Jury.        

On her second-second chance, can Ciera develop a strategy that doesn't involve following along with another alliance partner and being used.  She has the potential to think for herself based on her getting Katie to admit she didn't have the Idol and standing up at a tribal in Second Chance and telling everyone to play the game, but it depends on what the alliance is that she will align with.   Other than Tony, her initial tribe doesn't have the Tyson/Gervase character readily apparent, and if she can work with people like Malcolm, Aubry, Michaela and maybe Troyzan, she can work her way onto the jury and possibly go all the way.  But she would need to make a true game changing move to win it all.

And this time there is no Mom to vote out.

Survivor 44--Final Seven

Although I am enjoying the cast of Survivor 44, I can't say I'm enjoying the season.  In the opening episode, a blunt force head trauma at 8:20 into the episode eliminating one promising character on Tika--Bruce and a rock climbing injury at 41:30, that had a lingering effect on Matthew on Ratu led to the first immunity challenge requiring the ridiculous strength of  six people being played with five and eventually four on Ratu as Brandon who had performed the Sweat challenge with Matthew who had to sit out the challenge because of his arm. Ratu unsurprisingly lost the challenge, and Soka at full strength won, which led to the first of four straight women being voted off, prior to the merge.  Matthew and Bruce were the only men to leave before going to the combined beach.   The abundance of advantages/losses, idols and fake advantages were overdone this season, and the tribe "swap" was too fixed. Episode 4 "Dirty Deed" Preview

One postscript from last week's episode.  The end result was not  unlike the rock draw in other seasons and someone deserving to stay, like Jessica last season was lost from the game.    As painful as it was to watch Malcolm leave, it's part of the game.  If J.T. hadn't done what he did, then perhaps it would have been Sierra that left the game. Tonight, Debbie appears to go berserk and get crazy with Brad and Tai, which usually means she stays.  After the twists of the first three weeks, who knows what this week's twist will be and how it will affect the game.
