Michaela came into the game as a straight shooter and benefitted in that she only had to go to one tribal council in the first 18 days and 6 Tribals and also had a 4-2 advantage in the Tribe Switch.  Ultimately she was done in by a tendency for the season to go full-blindside and voting out the least likely person to go.

Michaela first targeted the Tails-Figgs romance in the Millenials tribe, but was also allied with Jay who was allied with the power couple.  Her suggestion to vote Figgy out on day 7 but was met with resistance.  Jay convinced them to go with Mari by trying to create a alliance of six, with Michelle and Will.

When the tribe switch moved from two to three tribes, Michaela ended up with Jay, Hannah, and Will, along with Bret and Sunday from the Gen-X tribe as the tribe of six.  The other two tribes were made up of five people with a 3-2 advantage for each of the original tribes.   Each tribe subsequently lost one Immunity over the next three and at the ensuing Tribal councils each of the first two voted against their numbers, bringing Michaela's tribe to the third tribal (and seventh overall).  The vote on her tribe was between Brett and Sunday, and Michaela went to work showing why it didn't matter who they voted out, because of the Millenials left on the other tribe.  Jay and Will saw that she had mapped out the final four and worried that she was thinking too far ahead.   Michaela then became the target and was the fourth straight big blindside in the game.

In Game Changers, Michaela could team with Aubry and be the brains behind an alliance.  The big problem for Michaela is that even though this is an entire returnee season, no one other than Zeke has seen her play as the season was filmed last summer before season 33 was aired.  Zeke may be able to make that work for him, but I suspect that Michael's strong personality won't change in the month between seasons, and the others will be leary of her.   Michaela will make a misstep at some point and go out somewhere in the middle.

Survivor 44--Final Seven

Although I am enjoying the cast of Survivor 44, I can't say I'm enjoying the season.  In the opening episode, a blunt force head trauma at 8:20 into the episode eliminating one promising character on Tika--Bruce and a rock climbing injury at 41:30, that had a lingering effect on Matthew on Ratu led to the first immunity challenge requiring the ridiculous strength of  six people being played with five and eventually four on Ratu as Brandon who had performed the Sweat challenge with Matthew who had to sit out the challenge because of his arm. Ratu unsurprisingly lost the challenge, and Soka at full strength won, which led to the first of four straight women being voted off, prior to the merge.  Matthew and Bruce were the only men to leave before going to the combined beach.   The abundance of advantages/losses, idols and fake advantages were overdone this season, and the tribe "swap" was too fixed. Episode 4 "Dirty Deed" Preview

One postscript from last week's episode.  The end result was not  unlike the rock draw in other seasons and someone deserving to stay, like Jessica last season was lost from the game.    As painful as it was to watch Malcolm leave, it's part of the game.  If J.T. hadn't done what he did, then perhaps it would have been Sierra that left the game. Tonight, Debbie appears to go berserk and get crazy with Brad and Tai, which usually means she stays.  After the twists of the first three weeks, who knows what this week's twist will be and how it will affect the game.
