Episode 5 "Vote Early Vote Often"Review

The Queen is gone!  Long Live the Queen!

NUKU Tribe
Aubry is shocked and impressed with Sandra's game play.  Sandra explains that J.T. had to go because of the Betrayal.

MANA Tribe
In the middle of the night, Tai searches for the Idol from the clue he had to wet the boards, and finds the anchor symbol and the Idol.

Tribe Switch
At the Reward Challenge Brad is visibly upset that J.T. is gone, then they wonder what is happening at the challenge. Jeff tells them to drop their buffs and passes out new ones to two tribes.  Debbie has no buff and is put in the middle.  Varner and Sandra from 2nd Nuku welcome Tai, and Sierra from 2nd Mana, and Andrea, Ozzie and Zeke from Tavua as the new Nuku tribe.   While Hali and Brad are joined by Aubry and Michaela from 2nd Nuku and Troyzan, Cirie and Sarah from Tavua to form the 3rd Nuku Tribe.  Jeff calls out Sandra and Varner being in the minority.   Jeff then tells Debbie that she is heading to Exile Island, and will join the losing tribe after the vote in the next tribal.

MANA Tribe
Troyzan is excited because he's no longer in the extreme minority.  Brad seems a little left out as one of only two men, and only Hali who he hasn't bonded with.  He then seeks out Troyzan and tries to connect.  Troy feels deja vu as his One World appearance went down to women.

NUKU Tribe
Varner talks to Zeke (who is still unknown to this cast).  Zeke and Ozzy plot to take out Sandra prior to the merge, and work to make a story directing Sandra and Varner vote for Tai.  Tai now on a new camp, realizes the same clue could work for the Nuku tribe.  He finds the symbol and the idol, and now has two.   Zeke and Varner talk later and Zeke tries to convince Varner that Tai is going home.   Varner tells that to Sandra, but Sandra is suspicious, although would go along.  She thinks it's stupid if they don't vote her or Varner out.

EXILE
Debbie is literally a downer, until she sees that Exile is on a yacht with all the amenities.  While enjoying the yacht, whe is son joined by John Cochran and they talk strategy.  Cochran feels that Debbie is overconfident and tells her so.  Debbie explains her issues with Culpepper and blowing up at him. Cochran also has a choice of Advantages for Debbie:  1) Fake immunity Idol, 2) Extra Vote, 3) Tribe Advantage in Next Immunity Challenge.  Debbie takes the Extra Vote.

IMMUNITY Challenge
The challenge is to retrieve large puzzle pieces in the water and navigate obstacles in the water to get them.  The pieces are loaded in a boat and then are pulled across the sand to the landing mat. Then they put them together.   Mana takes a lead after the boats are brought in, and quickly solve the puzzle.   Nuku goes to Tribal and "wins" Debbie after they vote someone out.

NUKU Tribe
Varner still believes Tai is going home unless he pulls out an idol.  Sandra is still suspicious.  Sandra makes the case against the Kaoh Rong season, Aubry, Tai and Debbie once she joins the tribe.    Ozzy, Andrea, and Sarah listen intently, but they all realize Sandra is good at sucking you in.  The vote is still for Sandra, and will consider the KR trio later.  Tai tells Varner he's safe and that they are going for Sandra, which bothers the rest of the tribe.

TRIBAL Council
Sarah and Zeke are newcomers to Tribal leaving only Cirie having yet to go to Tribal.  Jeff tries to lead a discussion to confuse everybody, after Sandra says she thinks she is going home.   Tai throws out Ozzie's name and Jeff is satisfied he has done a good job.  This is all a diversion however as Varner calls for the vote and the vote goes for Sandra 5-2. The Queen leaves rather calmly, as the rest of the tribe enjoys Jeff snuffs her torch for the first time in history as the the others applaud her.  Debbie then returns with the tribe.

NEXT TIME...
Very little is shown.  Mana seems down, Varner plots with Sarah, after Sarah tells Andrea she's irate right now.

Sandra finally goes down and they tried to make it suspenseful, but once Nuku lost Immunity, it was clear she was going.  The exile twist was a little annoying.  Would have been better if Jeff had referred to it as Exile rather than Exile Island as it was referred to as Exile.  He also said she would be alone, but wasn't.  Could have been a little misleading.  Next week's title refers to Exile, so this may be a big part of the episode.
